8,379' | Bodie, CA.
wildly abandoned by a western vampire in a state of arrested decay I wait here forehead against cold glass as dust dissolves color seeps in through cracked wallpaper breathing life into the places i've abandoned in myself Bodie’s Mining Era
Bodie is a gold-mining, ghost town east of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, just north of Mono Lake. At an elevation of 8,379’, the climate can be unforgiving with high winds, extreme temperature changes, and snow. Today, Bodie is preserved in a state of “arrested decay” meaning that no improvements have been made to its structures, the interiors remain as they were left, and rusted aluminum cans litter the landscape. The earth so greedily stripped of its precious metals; ghosts haunt these streets. Daydreaming of a time past, their presence feels so recent; blurring the concept of time. |
